Abstract
Hydrogen storage properties of the nonstoichiometric alloys of La0.6Nd0.4Ni4.8Mn0.2M0.1 (M=Cu, Zr) have been systematically investigated. Experimental results showed that Cu addition increased the plateau pressure and alleviated the hysteresis while Zr addition effectively improved the absorption kinetics, enhanced the pulverization resistant capability and lowered the plateau pressure. However, additions of Cu and Zr addition impaired the hydrogen storage capacity of the alloys. It was found that the hysteresis factors was correlated with FWHM of (111) peak and a/c value of the alloys, and both the plateau pressure and enthalpy had good linear relations with the lattice parameter a.
