Listeria sepsis as a complication of endoscopy

We present the case of a patient who was treated with high doses of prednisone for an exacerbation of ulcerative colitis and who developed a Listeria monocytogenes sepsis after a sigmoidoscopy. To our knowledge there is only one other report of this serious complication of endoscopy.
