Cardiac MRI (CMR) utilizing a T1 mapping sequence has been shown to be correlated with histological levels of myocardial fibrosis in heart failure patients. Whether peripheral blood markers of collagen and the matricellular proteins of the extracellular matrix (ECM) reflect changes in T1 times has not been evaluated.
