Enhancing Dynamic Fluid Flow Analysis With Computational Grids

We propose a framework for enhanced medical imaging and simulation of blood flow through the use of computational grids. Much of the current three-dimensional imaging analysis requires significant computation performed on synthesized data from echocardiograms, Computed Axial Tomography (CAT), Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI), Gated SPECT (Single Photon Emission Tomography) and other combined imaging inputs (5). Using a computational grid to provide analysis of real-time inputs of subject data has the potential of improved calculation of dynamic fluid flow in the arterial system and the construction of significantly improved models for further simulations using computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
