Regeneration of a nickel-on-kieselguhr catalyst by means of supercritical carbon oxide

The nature of the deposits deactivating a nickel-on-kieselguhr supported catalyst in the course of the hydration of unsaturated compounds is analyzed. The possibility of regeneration of the catalyst with supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO 2 ) both pure and modified with a polar additive (3 wt % methanol) at temperatures of 70 and 150°C and pressures of 10 to 30 MPa is examined. The kinetic characteristics of the regeneration of the catalyst in a SC-CO 2 medium are studied.
