Abstract
Sudden death (SD) in young persons can be divided into natural (death due to a disease) and nonnatural (e.g. car accident or suicide) causes of death. The natural deaths can be subdivided into noncardiac deaths, cardiac deaths, and unexplained deaths. The latter two categories comprise the cardiac deaths due to inherited diseases and are discussed further in this chapter (see Fig. 25.1).
