Neutron Transfer At Large Distances In The System S-36 + Mo-92

One- and two-neutron transfer reactions were studied in the system S-36 + Mo-92 at bombarding energies of 140 and 180 MeV. The angular distributions for the two-neutron transfer at large distances show exponential falloffs which depend on the bombarding energy and are less steep than expected from tunneling theories. This behavior can be explained by considering diffractive, rather than semiclassical scattering.
