Immunoloregulation activity and clinical use progress of thymosin α1

Thymosin α1,extracted from the thymosin fraction 5,is an acidic peptide with multiple biological activities.Among the substances currently under investigation as immune response modifiers,thymosin has gained particular interest.Thymosin α1 can regulates many key steps of immune system,such as activating immune cells including NK cell,T cell,monocyte and macrophage,and stimulating bone-marrow haematopoiesis to proliferate and differentiate.The most important event is the regulation of T cell differentiating.This review focuses on the clinical use of thymosin and its adverse reactions.Thymosin is mainly used for various diseases such as infectious diseases,malignant tumor,autoimmunity diseases,and immunodeficiency diseases,et al.The adverse reaction induced by thymosin α1 is seldom,but it still should be strictly controlled in a few cases.Thymosin α1 should be withdrawn immediately once the adverse reaction happened.
