Abstract
mmHg; p 35 vs pts with CA125 <35 showed a higher mortality (42.8% vs 12%, p<0.001), more frequent HF hospitalizations (42.8% vs 23%, p<0.01) and arrhythmic events (57.1% vs 38.4°%, p<0.05). Pts with increased CA125 levels showed higher values of EDV, MPI and right ventricular diameter (respectively 105.1±36 vs 82.6±25.6 ml, p<0.05;0.85±0.38 vs 0.54±0.26, p<0.01;4±1.26 vs 2.92±0.93, p<0.01). Statistical analysis didn’t show any correlation between MPI, CA125 and VO2peak. Conclusions: MPI has a close correlation with systolic and diastolic LV function and is a stronger predictive index than EF or other echocardiographic parameters. Furthermore CA125 serum levels, as demonstrated for BNP, are higher in pts with CHF and are predictive of mortality and HF hospitalizations.
