The analysis of PLT count in EDTA-dependent pseudothrombocyopenia

Objective To find a reliable method to count PLT in EDTA-dependent pseudothrombocyopenia,which can give evidence to lab work; Methods Blood samples of 26 EDTA-dependent pseudothrombocyopenia were treat by citrate sodium and EDTA-K2 respective,then we measured the PLT amount of the samples in 10 min,1 h and 2 h by Coulter Ac.T 5 DIFF and manual count.We observed agglutination phenomenon of platelet on blood smear.Results The average PLT amount of sampels treated by citrate sodium was 139×109/L counted by machine,while the discrepancy between the machine test and manual count was 4.8%.which is acceptable according to the CLIA'88 standard.There were no agglutination phenomenon in 20 citrate-treat samples.Conclusion We can measure the PLT of the EDTA-dependent pseudothrombocyopenia samples treated with citrate sodium by instrument in 10 min.
