Reconfigurable Computing System Initiatives at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing

With the on going, worldwide research on Reconfigurabl e Computing Systems (RCS), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a premier R&D institute of the government of India has also embarked upon the study and development of such systems and related technologies. In this paper we briefly describe the RCS initiatives at C-DAC. The initial focus on understanding the technology and the required hardware for mapping algorithmic routines on such system has helped us in proving the concept in the field of reconfigurabl e computing. Scientific and engineering application solvers like matrix multiplication, factorization and FFT are designed and implemented on the RCS card from C-DAC. This has given us a better idea of further hardware expansion and application solvers that will give considerable acceleration on the future versions of RCS.
