Effect of racecadotril in the treatment of acute watery diarrhea in infant

Objective To assess the efficacy of racecadotril in the treatment of infant with acute watery diarrhea.Methods This study included 278 patients with diarrhea who were randomly divided into two groups.The control group was given Smecta and Medilac-Vita,the treated group was given racecadotril in addition to the other two drugs as used in the control.The outcome was evaluated after 72 hours. Results The total effective rate was higher in treated group than that in the control(χ2=10.28,P0.01). Conclusion Racecadotril is effective for infantile acute watery diarrhea.
