An Analysis of Health Conditions of Faculty Members at a University

Objective To find out the present health conditions of university faculty members,and to provide references for future precautionary measures.Method To analyze the data collected from health check-ups of 1 044 faculty members.Results Disease of the highest detection rate was hemorrhoid(79.46%);the rate of profession-related disease of laryngitis was 35.58%;the rate of female prostatic disease was 40.09%.Gynecological diseases ranking according to the detection rate were Vaginitis(62.09%),mammary gland hyperplasia(44.62%),cervicitis(44.62%) and uterine fibroids(16.17%).The detection rates of chronic non-infectious diseases including Dyslipidemia,hypertension,high uric acid hematic disease,fatty liver,diabetes,damaged blood sugar,gallstones or polyps were relatively high;except for hypertension,detection rate of diseases among males was higher than that of females(P0.01);the detection rates rose with the age,and differences between different age groups were statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion Health conditions of university faculty members are not satisfactory,and,therefore,combined preventive measures against diseases are needed.
