摘要
S485 INTRODUCTION: Discolouration of urine during propofol infusion is known as green urine, which is usually observed in the intensive care units. A complex metabolite is considered to be responsible for this phenomenon. There are few reports about white urine during propofol infusion, which has not been analyzed yet [1,2]. The purpose of this study is to analyze white urine during propofol anesthesia and to investigate possible causes related to anesthesia managements. METHOD: After routine urinalysis of white urine samples of eight patients, sediments were dryed and analyzed by the infrared spectroscopic analysis method(KBr method). Duration of propofol infusion before appearance of white urine, and duration of white urine persistence, and total propofol dose were recorded. RESULTS: Table 1 displays results of this study. Analysis of urine sediments showed uric acid in six of eight patients. In two patients, amount of dryed sediments were under detection. White urine appeared following more than 100 minutes continuous infusion of propofol. There was no common anesthetics other than nitrous oxide and propofol. Urine pH was between 5 and 6.Table 1CONCLUSION: Sediments of white urine during propofol ansthesia were analyzed and proved to be uric acid. There was no common combination of propofol and other anesthetics to facilitate white urine excretion.
