Diagnostic value of misty mesentery on MDCT in ileocecal disease

Objective To observe the value of misty mesentery(MM) in diagnosing the ileocecal disease with MDCT.Methods CT features of 60patients with ileocecal diseases proved by surgery and pathology were retrospectively analyzed.Results MM was found in 11of 18cases of malignant tumors(11 / 18,61.11%) and 36of 42inflammatory lesions(36 / 42,85.71%).MM was more in inflammatory diseases than in malignant tumors,as well as fat strand sign,comma sign and comb sign.Mesenteric vessel involvement,mesenteric nodules,ascites and enlargement of the mesenteric lymph nodes were much more seen in malignant lesions.Conclusion MM can prompt benign and malignant ileocecal lesions.Combining with other CT signs and clinical data,MM is helpful to correct diagnosis.
