摘要
THE climatic deterioration is an important event in the geological history and generally recognized by composition of strata and variation in some elements. However, the study on the climatic deterioration events in terms of age distribution of animals has been rarely reported. This note reports the study on a climatic deterioration event and its affected area during the Miocene Epoch based on thousands of fossils of Hipparion fauna from Longjiagou in Wudu, Gansu Province and from Miaoliang in Fugu, Shaanxi Province. The fauna is of the Miaoliang sub-age of the Late Miocene Baodean with a paleomagnetic age of about 5.3 ~a[" . 1 Age distribution of representative animal and its significance Animals die in two ways: normal death controlled by death rate, and mass death caused
