Abstract
Summary  Bovine hypophyseal intermediate lobe tissue and colloid have a particular affinity for cells of mesodermal origin and stimulate microglial cells of the parietal lobe so that they proliferate and differentiate in the direction of the erythroid series. The present findings strongly suggest that intermediate lobe tissue and colloid are endowed with an erythropoietic stimulant. Evidence is given in favor of the fact that reticuloendothelial cells can develop in the hemopoietic direction, even though they have once become actively phagocytic.
