SUMMARY This paper presents the simulations results of stro ng and small disturbances in PSCAD / EMTDC™, performed in the area of influence of Funil and Bom Jesus da Lapa Static VAR Compensators (SVCs), considering a detailed modeling of 230 and 500kV power grids associated to such equipments. A detailed modeling of Funil SVC is used and the infl uence of an adaptive control scheme present in both SVCs on their performances is also studied. A comparison among the simulations results in PSCAD / EMTDC™ and tests accomplished in RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulators) is also presented. Similarities and eventual differences am ong the results obtained employing both tools are remarked. The benefits introduced on the network po wer quality associated to the above mentioned SVCs operation are also highlighted.
