A Portable Airborne Multisensor Imaging System

Abstract
A prototype portable airborne multisensor imaging system (PAMIS) has been developed and flown on a Cessna 182 airplane. PAMIS integrates a suite of innovative electro-optical (EO) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) imaging sensors to collect simultaneous large format photographic and thermal images. An interim prototype model of PAMIS is demonstrated. It collects 14,200 times 5,400 pixel color image frames and 1,024 times 1,024 pixel LWIR thermal image frames at a fast frame rate, providing concurrent EO/LWIR images for today's fast mapping and change detection needs. High resolution data samples collected by PAMIS sensors are presented. These include 4cm resolution single-pass GeoTIFF photomosaic of Trull Brook Golf Course of Tewksbury, MA and concurrently collected 4cm resolution EO fused with 0.02K resolution thermal images in Salem NH with a pool temperature deference imaged. It is concluded that PAMIS is portable, easy-to-use, and operational with its miniaturized and rugged modular design. By collecting concurrent large format high-resolution geospatial and thermal data by one instrument operator, a small remote sensing aircraft is more efficiently. utilized.
