Study of Quercetin on Proliferation of Gatric Cancer Cell Line BGC823

Objective To identify the inhibitory effects and mechanism of Quercetin on gastric cancer.Methods Gastric cancer BGC823 cells were treated with different doses of quercetin,and the growth of cancer cell was exmined by MTT assay,and the apoptosis were determined by agarose gel electrophoresis and TUNEL assays,respectively.The real time-PCR and western blot were performed to study the expression of survivin.Results Quercetin had a remarkable inhibition on gastric cancer cell line BGC823.From DNA ladder and TUNEL assay,apoptosis were induced in cancer cells treaed with quercetin,in a dose-dependent manner.In addition,quercetin resulted in down-regulation of survivin mRNA and protein from real time-PCR and western blot assay.Conclusion Quercetin can inhibit the growth of human gastric cancer BGC823 cell through inducing apoptosis and down-regulating survivin gene in vitro.
