Monitorage continu de la saturation veineuse en oxygène du sinus coronaire: technique et interprétation

Continuous monitoring of mixed venous oxygen saturation allows us to quantify patient's oxygen extraction when PaO2 and SaO2 are unchanged. The same technic used to determine venous oxygen saturation in the coronary sinus seems to be interesting in the unstable hemodynamic status. This preliminary study proves ability of this monitoring in IGU, and confirm the aim of cardiac treatment in shock which is to avoid an increase of myocardial oxygen consumption when cardiac index reaches up. The thin catheter (opticath 4F) employed, isn't traumatic and quiet easily introduced in the coronaary sinus without X-ray control. Therefore, it's probably an essential drug efficacy during myocardial failure with low cardiac output.
