Fatigue And Chronic Fatigue Syndrome During Pregnancy

Exhaustion, as a common complaint among women throughout pregnancy and during the postpartum period, is well known as "fatigue" If this occurs as disabling fatigue for at least 6 months, accompanied by several other symptoms, chronic fatigue syndrome occurs. Besides physical, psychological, and situational factors, occupational working conditions are also assumed to predispose pregnant women to fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome. It is suggested that increased miscarriages, pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, preterm rupture of membranes, preterm births, low birth weights and increased rates of caesarean deliveries are related to severe fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome in pregnancy. Therefore, fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome should be recognized as a significant problem for pregnant women.
