Long-Term Pollution Trends

Anthropogenically and naturally derived atmospheric trace constituents, deposited onto high elevation glaciers of the Monte Rosa region have been investigated on the seasonal, annual, decadal and the centennial time scales. The principal findings related to the temporal changes observed for sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, acidity and heavy metals are used to evaluate the long-term anthropogenic impact on the clean air precipitation in western Europe.
