Donors In Zno Nanocrystals

The chemical nature of donors unintentionally present in ZnO nanocrystals prepared by chemical methods has been studied by high frequency electron paramagnetic resonance and electron nuclear double resonance. The experiments show that H, which is present during the preparation process, and acts as a shallow donor in bulk ZnO, is located in the Zn(OH)(2) Shell covering the nanocrystals. We find that Li, probably in an interstitial position, is incorporated in the core of the nanocrystals. (C) 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
