Background/Aims: In order to examine whether iron and alcohol act synergistically during tumor initiation in vivo, we investigated the effects of dietary iron overload and a liquid ethanol-containing diet on the initiation phase of the Solt & Farber model for chemical hepatocarcinogenesis.
