Diagnostik der Polyneuropathien: eine tabellarische Übersicht

In spite of intensive diagnostic work-up about 40 to 50% of all polyneuropathies that cannot be attributed to diabetes mellitus of an excessive alcohol consumption cannot yet be classified aetiologically. Prerequisites for a rational diagnosis are a comprehensive case history, clinical examination, and a neurophysiological classification of the polyneuropathy with subsequent, targetted paraclinical diagnostics. If this is not successful, observation of the clinical course, at least in progressive disease, may lead to success.
