Abstract
Alcohol-related crime is a problem in many cities and towns. This report presents the main findings from two Home Office studies that explored the relationship between alcohol consumption and offending among 18to 24-year-olds. The first study examined the 1 999/1998 Youth Lifestyles Survey to quantify the association between binge drinking and offending behaviour (Richardson and Budd, 2003). The second study involved focus groups with young people to explore the social context of binge drinking (Engineer et al., 2003).
