Abstract
Background: Doppler echocardiography is often regarded as a reliable tool to non-invasively estimate key haemodynamic variables including systolic and mean pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP and mPAP), pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), cardiac output (CO), and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP). Given the increasingly appreciated importance of heart failure in the context of a normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and pulmonary hypertension secondary to left ventricular diastolic dysfunction we aimed to assess the accuracy of Doppler echocardiography to assess key haemodynamic variables in subjects with normal LVEF.
