A Resected Case of Adenosquamous Cell Carcinoma of the Pancreas Derived From Mucin-Producing Cystic Tumor, Revealed by Colonic Ileus:

A 78 year-old woman was referred to our hospital because of vomiting and abdominal pain. Around the pancreas tail, there was a sequential stenotic region of the colon, which was an 8cm-sized cystic mass. After reducing the colonic pressure via the anus, we resected the distal pancreas, spleen, part of the colon and stomach, and left adrenal gland. The cystic wall was covered by the adenoma and carcinoma in situ. Carcinoma in situ developed to adenocarcinoma, and then to adenosquamous carcinoma. The diagnosis was pancreas adenosquamous carcinoma, derived from a mucin-producing cystic pancreas neoplasm. It is very rare to present colonic ileus for pancreas carcinoma and mucin-producing cystic pancreas neoplasm leading to pancreas adenosquamous carcinoma. After 5 and a half months from the operation the patient died from cancer reccurence.
