摘要
Early detection of prostate cancer may feasibly lead to an increased cure rate (1-4). Biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) represents the standard method for de- tecting prostate cancer. Unfortunately, the false-negative rate of TRUS-guided biopsy is high (30%- 40%), and bi- opsy must often be repeated (5-7). In this scenario, it is reasonable to look for other imaging techniques able to reveal prostate cancer. Of all available imaging modalities, metabolic diagnostic methods seem to be most promising. MRI with an endorectal coil shows good accuracy in local staging (8) of prostate cancer and is more accurate than TRUS in tumor detection but lacks specificity (benign con-
