Vascular intracavitary treatment in 15 cases with Debakey III type dissecting aneurysm of aorta

Objective To investigate the experience of endovascular stent-graft treatment for the thoracic aortic dissecting aneurysm. Methods From May 1999 to December 2005, 15 cases with DeBakey Ⅲ type dissecting aneurysm of aorta received grafting treatment of vascular intracavitary stent with membrane were analyzed retrospectively. Results 22 stents with membrane were used in 15 cases. The successful rate of operative technique was 100%. Internal leakage was happened in 6 cases during operation. The leakage orifice was closed after grating the second stent. Displacement of stent was found in 1 cases 3 months after operation and this patient was cured after grafting the stent with membrane.12 cases were cured,3 cases died after operation.death causes were arrhythmia and respiratory failure.With average postoperative follow-up 20 months, intima ruptured orifices were closed completely in all cases.There was thrombosis within seudocavity and no internal leakage was found. The seudocavities were shrinken obviously.Conclusion The stent with membrane grafting possesses a good short-term efficacy for the treatment of the dissecting aneurysm of aorta. But further research is still necessary to long-term efficacy.
