Quantitative measurement on the effect of various manipulations of acupuncture operations

An experiment for evaluating and comparing the effects of various manipulations of acupuncture operations was conducted in Hangzhou, China, in 2000 and 2001. The regulation direction and effects of various manipulations were evaluated objectively and quantitatively by means of Status Analysis Monitor (SAM) instrument. The results show that the manipulation 'reinforcement' of acupuncture makes the body-mind system of a person more harmonic or more concentrated; whereas, the manipulation 'purgation' makes the body-mind system of a person more chaotic or more relaxed.
