The value of color Dopplar ultrasound detected structure and hemodynamic changes of carotid artery in senile hypertensives

Objective: To evaluate the value of color Dopplar ultrasound detected structure and hemodynamic changes of carotid among the senile hypertensives.Methods: Carotid artery diameter(CAD),intima media thickness(IMT),the incidence of plaque,the peak systolic velocity(PSV),resistance index(RI) and maximal shear rate(SR) were measured by ultrasonography in 86 cases of senile patients with hypertension(hypertension group) and 40 cases of healthy elders(control group).Analize the difference of above indexs between hypertension group and control group and the difference between hypertension 1,2,3 grade.Results: Carotid artery IMT and the incidence of plaque in senile hypertensive group were significantly higher,the PSV,SR were significantly lower than control group(P0.01).Along with hypertension grading increases,carotid IMT,incidence of plaque were gradually raised;SPV,SR were further reduced,the differences were statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion: Senile hypertension existes carotid structure and hemodynamic changes,and carotid atherosclerosis degree has directproportion with elevated blood pressure.Application of color Dopplar ultrasound detecting carotid atherosclerosis occurrence and development of the patients with hypertension to happen heart cerebrovascular disease forecast to have the important meaning
