The SuperB project

The Super B project is presented. The physics motivation for the high luminosity of Super B is discussed. It includes the need for a luminosity in excess of 10 36 cm −2 s −1 to integrate more than 75 ab −1 in 5 years. The advantage of one polarized beam for lepton flavor violation in tau decays and the option of running at open Charm threshold in asymmetric mode for studying time dependent asymmetries in D 0 decays.The basic concept of the Super B machine is described and preliminary results on the crab waist from the recent accelerator tests in Frascati are also reported.
