Coastal aerosol measurements

Coastal aerosol distribution measurements have been performed during 1978. At the same time the dependence of the distribution on general atmospheric parameters has been investigated. From 1.06 υm monostatic Mie lidar measurements both the extinction and backscatter were derived and compared with aerosol measurement results. A relation between backscatter, Junge exponent and particle concentration is presented, which makes it possible to derive particle concentration directly from two wavelength lidar measurements.
