Abstract
When detecting underwater acoustic signals, the ship noise is often treated as stationary stochastic noise. The traditional methods such as Fast Fourier transform (FFT) methods are not quite effective for the problem. In this paper, wavelet package transform (WPT) method is presented to solve that. The fractal characteristics of ship radiated noise are discussed. Some simulation examples are given for testing the performance of the proposed algorithm and the results show using WPT with rigrsure threshold selection, the ship noise is deleted well. Compared with traditional FFT method, WPT method owns better effectiveness on detecting signals from ship noise.
