Abstract
The way that simulation-based training (SBT) technologies are used has significant impact on learning and performance, at least as much as the technologies themselves affect the choice of instructional strategies and facilitate (or inhibit) the communication of concepts. The purpose of this paper is to examine the instructional techniques that military instructors use to support hands-on training and to describe how this information is being leveraged to guide the development of instructional technologies for SBT.
