Zhipeng Kan was born in Qinhuangdao, China in 1983. In the period of 2003 - 2007 he studied Physics and Mathematics at the School of Physical Science and Technology of Guangxi University in Nanning, China. In 2007 he completed his Diploma Thesis on optical properties of one-dimensional photonic crystals at the Guangxi University. From 2007 - 2010 he studied at Institute of Solid State Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Hefei China. In 2010 he obtained his master degree in Natural Sciences from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the period of 2011 - 2015 he was a PhD candidate in Physics department of Politecnico di Milano, in Milan Italy, and a Research Assistant in the Optoelectronics Group of Dr. Panagiotis Keivanidis in the Center for Nano Science and Technology @ PoliMi directed by Prof. Guglielmo Lanzani. He received his PhD degree in Physics from Politecnico di Milano for his study on ternary organic solar cells. In the period of 2015 - 2018 he was a Research Associate in KAUST Solar Center at King Abdula University of Science and Technology, in Thuwal Saudi Arabia, working with Prof. Frederic Laquai and Prof. Pierre Beaujuge. During his staying in KAUST he performed time delayed collection field and transient experiments (in the ns - ms time range), for correlating the efficiency of charge photogeneration and recombination in organic photovoltaic composites with their layer microstructures. In 2018, he got support by the CAS Pioneer Hundred Talent Program and holds a professor position leading the Device Technology & Device Physics Group at Thin-film Solar Technology Research Center, at the Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Chongqing China.
His research interests include the electro-optical characterization of solution processable power-generating and photo-detecting devices and the optimization of device functionality through structure-property-performance correlations.
