在国际上,创建了“中国二系杂交小麦技术体系”,实现了从光温敏不育系发现与利用、恢复系创制、强优势组合选育,到规模化高效制种、大面积应用与产业化的全面突破。揭示了小麦光温敏雄性不育的遗传机理和代谢网络,构建了雄性不育细胞骨架的信号传导途径,克隆了雄性不育相关基因。获得一批抗逆和高产转基因小麦新材料。构建小麦高通量DNA指纹检测平台,创建了中国小麦品种DNA指纹数据库
我国杂交小麦领域的学科带头人,国家现代农业产业技术体系杂交小麦岗位专家,国家“863”小麦杂种优势利用项目首席专家。“十五”以来,承担国家和北京市科研项目45项,主持选育小麦新品种 14个,其中国审品种5个,发表论文89篇,著作2部,授权专利13项。作为主要贡献者,研究成果获国家科学技术进步奖一等1项,北京市科学技术进步奖一等1项、二等2项,北京市农业技术推广奖一等1项,累计推广应用2000万亩以上,创造社会经济效益约20亿元。
