个人简介
My research focuses on creating adaptive materials from bio-resources that are inspired by Nature and I have a keen interest (and plenty of experience) in applying these materials in sustainable wood conservation (with a particular focus on heritage wood) and biomedical engineering.
Within my research, I explore fundamental behaviour in Nature-inspired materials from the molecular to the macro-scale, to better understand their response to environmental changes so that they can be more effectively applied in the body and the built environment.
Sustainability from conception to production, and ensuring circularity of materials is a key factor in my approach to my work. I am passionate about the widespread applications of adaptive, bio-based materials in biomedical engineering and heritage science and how we can make materials science more sustainable. I enjoy communicating these ideas through various media to inspire and encourage others to move towards a more sustainable materials future.
