个人简介
Graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (1981) with master's degree in Inorganic chemistry and PhD in coordination chemistry (1984) at the same university. Postdoc training at University of Southampton (1990-91, Prof. J. Evans) and Texas A&M University (1995, Prof. D. Bergbreiter). Received the British Council scholarship (1990) and Fulbright research fellowship (1995). In 1997 habilitated in Kiev National University as D.Sc. in inorganic chemistry. In 2007 he received the National Ukraine state Prize in Science and Technology and in 2009 he was elected to Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. From 1991 till 2014 works as assistant, associate and full Professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Currently he is Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
Vladimir (Volodymyr) ZAITSEV has international reputation as scientist. He receiver many international grants. Among them are from European Union: FP7- IRSES No.247603 (2009), FP7- IRSES No.269099 (2010), FP7- IRSES No. 319013(2012); from NATO: NATO SfP No.97-1896 (2002), NATO SfP No.98-1786 (2005); rom INTAS No.94-2522 (1995), No. 97-1116 (1997) and No. 00-291 (2002) etc.
He has experience in Chemistry, focusing on analytical chemistry and application of new materials in chemical analysis. Scientific achievement is a harmonious combination of new solid phase reactant synthesis, studying their chemical properties, investigations of specific characteristics of their chemical behavior, generalization of the results, in order to develop new tools and methods of analytical chemistry. The most important scientific results are: 1) the methods for obtaining new silica-based solid phase reagents, silicon and silicon carbide covalently immobilized complexing groups of different natures. For the first time, the method of combinatorial chemistry is applied to the synthesis of chemically modified silicas; 2) Study methods, as well as the main factors that influence a layer structure attached to chemically modified silicas complexation are developed, distribution character of fixed groups are determined; 3) The methodology for the investigation of the composition, structure and stability of the immobilized complex. Applicability of methods for calculating the physico-chemical balance to predict the chemical properties of a new class of organo-mineral hybrid material is proved. Influence immobilization acid-based complexing properties and analytical reagents is investigated. The basic characteristics of reactions between metals and immobilized compounds were found and it was used as the theoretical basis of application reagents in solid phase in the analysis; 4) New approaches for creating optical sensor for determination of metal ions in the water electrochemical sensor for determining the immune system proteins and nucleinic acids are developed. Original adsorbents for selective pre-concentration and separation of metals were received. New solid phase reagents for selective extraction of antibiotics, pesticides, toxic metals and phenols are investigated.
Since 2001, Professor Volodymyr ZAITSEV is a president of a scientific council of analytical chemistry in chemistry division of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, since 2003, he is a member of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS) as a representative of Ukraine. From 2005 Vladimir Zaitsev is an editor of scientific journal "Methods and objects of chemical analysis" scientific, member of the Editorial Board of magazines nearby: Journal of analytical chemistry, chemical papers, chemistry and water technology, University Kiev reports. Volodymyr Zaitsev organized many international meetings. He was a leader of the organizing committee of the upcoming international meetings: Ukraine-US Summer School on the chemistry and physics of surfaces (1994); New functional materials for chemical analysis (2002); Functionalized Materials: Synthesis, Properties and Applications (2002); Analytical chemistry and chemical analysis (2005), the Russian-German-Ukrainian Symposium ARGUS (2005, 2007).
