Yukio Takahashi completed his PhD at Tohoku University in 2004 with work on X-ray holography. From 2005 to 2006, he was a special postdoctoral researcher at RIKEN SPring-8 Center, where he developed a coherent X-ray diffraction imaging (CXDI) apparatus and applied it to three-dimensional observation of mesoscopic precipitates in alloys. He moved to Osaka University as a lecturer in 2007 and became an associate professor in 2011. During this time, he developed high-resolution CXDI techniques with mirror optics at SPring-8. In 2014, he was appointed a team leader at the RIKEN SPring-8 Center as well. In 2011, he was awarded the Young Scientists’ Prize of the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
