Dr. Yuhua Duan's research activities include the development of sorbents for CO2 capture technologies and energetic materials for novel batteries and fuel cells, high-temperature gas sensors, and multi-scale modeling of energy systems. His expertise and interest span both atomistic scale simulations and multi-scale modeling of materials and processes applied to energy technologies. Dr. Duan has developed work proposals and projects within these areas of research that align with the DOE mission. He has also established broad collaborations with in-house scientists and internationally-recognized experts in the field of fossil energy. Dr. Duan has secured external funding to develop an onboard flotation technology for spilled oil clean-up at sea and to explore tritium diffusivity and solubility in tritium-producing burnable absorber rods (TPBAR) within the nuclear reactor. To date, he has authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers published in leading scientific journals, 9 book chapters, 43 articles published in various conference proceedings, and more than 100 abstracts presented at different scientific conferences. He has also made over 100 oral and poster presentations at various scientific conferences and institutions.
