Bio
Yu Jia is currently an academic at Aston University, having previously been an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Chester and led the Smart Microsystems Research Group. His research focuses on energy harvesting, micro-electromechanical systems, nonlinear vibration dynamics and smart integrated systems. Yu Jia has published 69 academic papers, filed 12 patents and has been an academic investigator for ~£2.1 million worth of projects.
Yu Jia received a First Class (Honours) in MEng Electromechanical Engineering at the School of Electronics and Computer Science from the University of Southampton in 2010, and PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2014. He was then a Research Associate at Cambridge for a year with the Nanoscience Centre and the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction. He is also a co-founder of the Cambridge spin-out company: 8Power Ltd., a Steering Board member of the Energy Harvesting Network, and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
