Yiwei Chen

Yiwei Chen is a scientist with expertise in the field of B-cell immunology and antibody development. She received her PhD from ETH Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Lanzavecchia, where she discovered a peculiar triangular broadly neutralizing antibodies against malaria parasites. After completing her doctoral studies, Yiwei transitioned to the biotech industry to apply her skills in the development of therapeutics for infectious diseases including RSV, MPV, and SARS-Cov2. During her time in the industry, she worked on various projects focused on developing antibody isolation technology and engineering therapeutic antibodies. After gaining valuable experience in the industry, she decided to return to academia to explore new possibilities for leveraging antibody engineering for treating different diseases. She recently joined the University of Zurich and University Hospital of Zurich, where she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Prof. Boyman's lab, where she is working on developing multispecific antibodies to treat autoimmune diseases and cancers. Her research involves the design, development, and optimization of novel multispecific antibodies that have the potential to be highly effective in treating these diseases. She is a dedicated scientist with a passion for using her expertise to make a meaningful impact in improving patients' lives. Throughout her career, she has published several papers in scientific journals including a first-author paper in Nature, and has presented her work at conferences around the world. Her contributions to the field of antibody discovery have been recognized, and she is highly respected by her colleagues for her scientific expertise and dedication to advancing the field.
