Bio
Dr. Shiao obtained his Ph.D. in Pathology from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1993. He was invited to visit Pathology Department, University of Padova, Italy in 1994 and to assist in setting up a molecular pathology laboratory and in training scientists. He joined the Laboratory of Comparative Carcinogenesis, National Cancer Institute at Frederick, for his postdoctoral training from 1994 to 1999, and continued at the same laboratory to become Research Fellow in 1999 and Staff Scientist in 2000. He has served in numerous editorial boards and has peer-reviewed and/or edited hundreds of manuscripts. His research centers on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of pathological changes. Since 2012, he has extended his experience to patent law and has worked as a Patent Examiner at US Patent Trademark Office (USPTO), especially examining subject matter in the areas of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic aspects. He has been working as a Primary Examiner with Full Signatory Authority in USPTO starting from November, 2017.
