Yazmin Odia

YAZMIN ODIA, MD, MS, FAAN serves as Chief of Neuro-Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) at Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) since 2016. At BHSF, she also serves as Chair of the Research Compliance Committee and on the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) and Neuroscience Research Fund (NRF) Committee. She was elected Assistant Vice President (2020-22) and Vice President (2022-24) for the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) for Baptist Hospital, the flagship hospital of BHSF. A Chicago Honor Scholar, she received her Bachelor of Arts and medical degree from the University of Chicago, and her Master of Science in clinical research at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She completed a residency in neurology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and a clinical and research fellowship in the Neuro-Oncology Branch of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. As a UCNS board-certified Neuro-Oncologist, she was appointed assistant professor of Neurology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons and an assistant attending neurologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY. She also serves on the editorial board of Clinics in Oncology – CNS Tumors and Journal of Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology. Dr. Odia is involved in the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) by serving as a member of the Leadership Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Career Leadership Development Subcommittee, and Chair of the Diversity Leadership Subcommittee, as well as on the Health Care Disparities Taskforce, Spanish Language Work Group, and formerly Undergraduate Education Subcommittee. Dr. Odia’s honors include Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Stephen Q. Shafer Award for Humanism in Neurology and John Hopkins’ Guy M. McKhann Award for Teaching and Communication Excellence. She was named Top Doctor in New York (2015-16), Miami (2018-21), US Castle Connolly Top Doctor (2019-20), Top Doctor (2021), Top Women in Medicine (2021), and Who’s Who (2021).
