Bio
Prof. Yan Gu, MD, Deputy Director of Department of Geriatric of Nanjing Second Hospital, master tutor of Medical School of Southeast University. Since serving as the deputy administrative director of the department, he has led the department to routinely carry out the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and set up the Interdisciplinary Geriatric Team. He is good at the diagnosis, treatment and management of common chronic diseases and comorbidities in geriatric internal medicine, as well as the identification of complicated senile diseases. In particular, he is good at long-term comprehensive treatment of Geriatric Syndrome such as senile frailties, malnutrition, multiple drug use, osteoporosis, pressure ulcers, falls, dementia, urinary and fecal incontinence through comprehensive assessment of the elderly.
The research directions of Prof. Gu’s team include: 1. Study on the role of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) in risk stratification and individualized treatment of hematological diseases in the elderly (malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma, etc.); 2. Risk stratification of prognosis and mechanism of drug resistance in multiple myeloma. 3. Study on the role of CGA in hierarchical treatment and prognosis assessment of geriatric respiratory diseases such as COPD, interstitial pneumonia and geriatric tuberculosis. At present, he has published more than 10 articles in SCI journals, and presided or participated in over 11 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China as the main researcher.
