Dr. Qi has more than 20 years of research experience in tree physiology, forest ecology and urban forestry. She has conducted research on the following areas:
UV-B radiation tolerance of trees,
Biogenic hydrocarbon emission,
Ecological benefit and cost of urban trees,
Mulch application and utilization in urban forestry
Energy relationships of forest ecosystem
Paclobutrazol tree growth regulator
Effect of methyl jasmonate on southern pine resistance to southern pine beetle
Phytoremediation of heavy metals
Urban and community forestry management plan
Urban ecosystem analysis
Water stress physiology
Tree decay and hazardous tree risk assessment.
Most recently, she is working on application of nanotechnology in forest health management and live oak gall midge biology and impact assessment.
