Bio
My research mainly focus on exploring the relationship and underlying mechanisms between hyperuricmeia and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). My previous work found that: (1) Serum uric acid levels are positively associated with risk of NAFLD; (2) hyperuricemia significantly induces insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis in mice, while lowering uric acid ameliorates NAFLD; (3) xanthine oxidase, a rate-limiting enzyme catalyzes uric acid production, plays a significantly role in the relation between NAFLD and hyperuricemia. These results were published in Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology.
